Custom metrics explained
This feature allows companies to create and track custom metrics tailored to their specific ESG reporting needs on top of the standard metrics from external frameworks and standards (e.g. SGX, HKEX, Bursa Malaysia and GRI). This ensures that your organization can address unique reporting requirements or industry-specific criteria. Whether aligning with frameworks like GRI, SASB, or TCFD, or crafting bespoke indicators, users have the tools to transparently manage and report on their ESG performance in a way that drives meaningful insights and compliance.
How to add and edit custom metrics
Adding a new intensity metric
- From the Disclosures home page, you can navigate to your frameworks already in progress or to your overall metrics repository.
- Selecting ‘Metrics repository’ will take you to your whole library of metrics across the various standards/frameworks and allows you to assign them to specific in-progress reports.
- Selecting directly from ‘Frameworks/Standards’ will take you directly to that particular report in progress, where you can add your custom metrics straight into that framework to be measured.

- Once you have selected your chosen method, select ‘Actions’ (this will appear in the same place for ‘Metrics repository’ and directly selecting a particular ‘Framework/Standard’.

- Select ‘Add custom metric’ from the drop-down list.

- When creating a custom metric, complete the details of the metric.
- Framework: ****Select which frameworks the custom metric applies to. Multiple frameworks can be selected.
- Disclosure: Select whether the custom metric will be disclosed under ‘Environmental’, ‘Social’, ‘Governance’, or ‘Other’. This will be determine which part of the framework/standard the custom metric will capture.
- Category: You have the option to select from a pre-set list of categories or to create your own. This will automatically organise and group your custom metric (e.g. Energy or Water) or within its relevant disclosure.
- Sub-category: This next level of categorisation will group your custom metric within the category of its disclosure. For example, ‘Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions’ within the ‘Emissions’ category of ‘Environmental’ disclosures.
- Metric description: This should describe explicitly what the metric captures.
- Metric type: Select on of two options: ‘Quantitative’ or ‘Qualitative’
- Quantitative: a numerical input. By creating a ‘Quantitative’ metric, the ‘Company level breakdown’ detailed input page will be enabled, which allows users to input data and delegate metrics at the business facility level.
- Qualitative: a text response box with simple formatting options.
