Unravel Carbon’s emissions calculation methodology has been certified by Tuv Rheinland to be in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Corporate Carbon Footprint standard. Tüv Rheinland confirmed that the platform is "scientifically based and reflects the state of the art”.
The following documents are used as reference for building the Unravel Carbon platform:
The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Corporate Standard outlines the following principles:
- Relevance: ensure the GHG inventory appropriately reflects the GHG emissions attributable to the organisation and serves the decision-making needs of users – both internal and external.
- Completeness: account for and report all GHG emissions sources and activities within the defined boundary of the organisation. Disclose and justify all exclusions.
- Consistency: use consistent methodologies to allow for meaningful comparisons of GHG emissions over time. Transparently document any changes to the data, boundary, methods or any other relevant factors in the time series.
- Transparency: compile, analyse and document GHG information clearly and coherently so that auditors/ users may evaluate its credibility. Disclose any relevant assumptions and make appropriate references to the calculation methodologies and data sources used.
- Accuracy: ensure the quantification of greenhouse gas emissions is unbiased and uncertainties are reduced as far as practicable. Achieve sufficient accuracy to enable users to make decisions with reasonable assurance as to the integrity of the reported information. Where uncertainty is high, use conservative values and assumptions.
