- Open the Template: Open the template in a spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Familiarize Yourself with the Structure: The template is organized into columns, each representing a specific data field. The key fields are:
- Unique ID of node: A unique identifier for each resource.
- ID of parent of node: The unique ID of the parent node (section or lifecycle stage) to establish the hierarchy.
- Display name of the node: A descriptive name for the resource.
- Node Type: The type of resource (e.g., "Lifecycle Stage", "Section", "Raw Material", "Fuel", "Electricity", "Transport", "Waste").
- Data Quality: "Primary Data" or "Secondary Data".
- Location of where the resource is from: The location where the resource is sourced or used.
- Description of the resource: A detailed description of the resource.
- Units for the quantity in "Amount - value": The units used for the quantity of the resource.
- Quantity of the resource: The amount of the resource used or generated.
- Waste: Type: For waste resources, specify the type of waste (e.g., "% Landfilled", "% Incinerated", "% Recycled").

- Define the Scope: Determine the boundaries of your PCF assessment (e.g., cradle-to-gate, cradle-to-grave).
- List Lifecycle Stages: In the template, list the relevant lifecycle stages for your product in the "Node Name" column. For example:
