Scope 2 emissions are indirect GHG emissions associated with the purchase of electricity, steam, heat, or cooling used by the business facilities that your company owns or controls.
This guide will focus on Scope 2 emissions from electricity purchased. To begin measuring Scope 2 emissions (electricity purchased) on Unravel Carbon’s platform, please download the ‘Purchased Electricity’ template on our platform.
Follow our guide below on how to get started.
Go to Unravel Carbon and login.
Click on “Measure” and “Upload data” in the sidebar
Where can I find this data?
Scope data can also be found within your utility invoices, purchasing system or electricity metering system. The following table explains where you might find the information you need.
Scope 2 emissions | |
---|---|
Purchased electricity, heating and cooling | This data can found in your ERP system in the form of utilities bills. While this data is usable, it would be ideal for you to obtain exact energy consumption data (e.g., kWh) to obtain a more accurate emissions output. This information can likely be obtained from utilities provider or building managers. You are recommended to engage your Finance / Operations team(s) for this set of data. This data can be input into our Transaction data template for our engine to process. You can find the key information that the template requires here. |
For our engine to transform your data into emission figures, we would need the following information (there are two different templates for electricity and heating / cooling with different fields to complete):
Click on “Measure” and “Upload data” in the sidebar
<aside> 💡 Do note that it is crucial that each line item uploaded should have a unique transaction ID, and your business facilities in your uploaded dataset are mapped exactly to what has been set in your organisational structure.

If there are errors to the dates and country names (e.g., different case, spelling error, additional space bar), our platform will flag out these errors.
Click on ‘Import’.
Once done, you may check on the status of the file uploaded in the “Data history” page.
