2. You will be required to go through a one-time setup process

3. Select or search for country in which your company's headquarter is located

4. Select the industry your company operates in, corresponding sub-sectors, value chain areas, and business facilities.

If you operate in more than one industry, select the primary industry in which you have the largest or most substantial operations.

5. Enter a description of the nature of your operations

This information gives us a better understanding of your company's overall operations, especially if you operate in more than one industry, sub-sector or value chain. The more information is added in here, the better as it also helps with contextual information for your company’s emissions inventory and decarbonisation pathway.

6. Provide an estimated indication of your company's annual revenue and projected annual revenue growth for the next 5 years

These questions are optional, but answering them will allow us to calculate emissions intensity on an emissions-per-dollar of revenue basis and develop a business-as-usual emission forecast. We use this information to suggest more specific decarbonisation plans for your company. You may choose to skip and come back to it when you have more information.

Creating your company structure

1. Click on View structure

Getting your company structure right is critical. Your organization structure will inform how emissions data is prepared and collected across your company. All emissions data has to be matched to a particular facility within your structure. To get started, click on “View structure”.

Grouping your company facilities

Below is an overview of how the structure builder is used to map your business onto the platform. The structure builder accommodates for two grouping types: by subsidiary or by region. You can have more than one of each type in your company structure.

You can use subsidiaries and regions to group your business facilities and filter your emissions results in the dashboard. Companies tend to group their business facilities by geography (e.g. APAC, Oceania etc.), subsidiary, or business divisions (e.g. logistics, retail).

  1. Click on the three dots next to your company name, then click on either “Add subsidiary” or “Add region/country/city”.

You can rearrange items in the list by clicking-and-dragging at the icon to the left of the name input, delete entries with the bin icon to the right, or add more items by pressing “Add more”.

Adding business facilities

Business facility is a mandatory reporting level. You must add all business facilities within your organization’s operational control during the reporting period.

<aside> 💡 Business facility definition: A business facility is defined as an activity or series of activities that forms a common undertaking or enterprise and, for the purposes of emissions reporting, generates GHG emissions. Facility boundaries determine what are direct or indirect emissions. Shell companies, holding companies, and other business facilities that do not have any associated GHG emissions do not need to be added to your company structure.

<aside> 💡 Operational control definition: A company has operational control over an operation if it (or its subsidiary) has the greatest authority to introduce and implement operating, environmental, health & safety policies at the operation.
